Bansko: Treasure in the heart of Pirin
Bansko is located at the foot of the Pirin Mountain, 927 meters above sea level. It is 150 km from Sofia and 145 km from Plovdiv. The town has a station of the railway narrow-gauge Septemvri - Dobrinishte and a bus station connecting Bansko with all points of Bulgaria.
The resort is characterized by a mild and pleasant transitional continental climate with Mediterranean influence, and in the higher parts - mountainous. Bansko is an attractive place for tourists throughout the year. The snow cover lasts on average 6 months a year and the topography of the mountains has a distinctly alpine character, which creates excellent conditions for winter sports and tourism. The active ski season is from mid-December to mid-April. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of -1.9 degrees Celsius. The warmest months are July and August, when average temperatures range between +25 and +27 degrees Celsius.

Bansko is a place rich in culture and history. The town is the birthplace of many prominent Bulgarians, including Paisii Hilendarski, Neofit Rilski, Nikola Vaptsarov. The old part of the town has preserved its Renaissance appearance, preserved in the unique architecture of the houses. Many of the local crafts, customs and traditions still flourish.
